Exhibition Text:
Stone Heads by Sofia Albina Novikoff Unger is a collection of four geo-located augmented reality sculptures that can be experienced in Rønnebæksholm’s sculpture park from June 23-October 31, 2023.
These digital sculptures, which float above the ground in a loop, are inspired by the landscape around Rønnebæksholm and Næstved. More specifically of the lower layers, of the earth which lies meter by meter below us, layer upon layer, and hides molecules from centuries and millennia. In this landscape, the moraine is deposited by a long-traveled glacier, in which the bryozoan limestone is found, and which consists of past sea-living fossils. The digital, organic forms play with shifts and displacements in twisted scales and brings what is out of sight to the surface.
The four sculptures are located in specific places in the park and explore the image of nature as an entity that not only adapts to urban environments, but is processed in bio-fantasies, where nature appears in new, transformed, formats.
You can see the figures by receiving a leaflet in the Art Gallery with instructions on how to experience the work on your mobile phone by scanning a QR code when you stand at each correct location, each of which is marked on the map. The trees are also marked with a sign in the Park.
